Join Me

About the game

Platform: PC

Join Me is a PC platformer created for Global Game Jam 2021. Three playable characters are lost in an unknown universe and must find each other, combine their unique abilities and reach the portal that will send them home. Each character has their own deck of abilities only they can see and use, so cooperation is essential to solve the puzzles.

Gameplay
Jump-based platforming with three characters that navigate different parts of the level, overcoming obstacles and using their specific skills. As players reunite the group, levels introduce new elements and mechanics that require coordination between characters to progress.

My role on the project:
(Game Designer · Level Designer)

  • Game Design: Designed and documented rules, mechanics and character abilities, making sure each deck felt unique but complementary to the others.

  • Level Design: Created levels, challenges and stage progression, planning how and when characters meet and how new elements are introduced.

Challenges and Solutions
 

Challenge: Use the “Lost and Found” theme in both story and mechanics
What I did: Built the progression around finding the other characters in the levels and designed situations where players must combine their abilities to move forward.

 

Challenge: Design jump-focused levels that keep adding variety
What I did: Structured stages with increasing difficulty and introduced new obstacles and interactive elements over time, using level sketches as guides for tutorials and engine implementation.
