Freezing Flame

About the game

Platform: PC
 

Freezing Flame is a short 3D adventure game created for PC during Global Game Jam 2018. You play as Fiery, a small living flame trying to escape an icy cave while struggling to keep its heat from fading away.

Gameplay
Players explore cave rooms, jump across platforms and avoid hazards while looking for safe spots and heat sources to prevent Fiery from going out. Simple combat and light puzzle elements are used to open paths, activate mechanisms and progress deeper into the cave.
 

My role on the project
(Game Designer · Level Designer · 3D Artist)

  • Game Design: Helped define the core idea of a fragile flame crossing an icy world, and translated the jam theme “Transmission” into heat management and environmental challenges.
    Level Design: Built the cave layouts, placing platforms, hazards and simple encounters to guide pacing and difficulty in a very short project scope.
    3D Art: Created basic 3D assets for the environment to support readability and mood under the strict time limit of the jam.

Challenges and Solutions

Challenge: Fit the “Transmission” theme into a small, coherent game
What I did: Framed the concept around transmitting and losing heat, using ice, distance and safe spots to make the theme present in level layout and moment-to-moment decisions.

 

Challenge: Scope a complete experience in only two days
What I did: Focused on a single linear path with a few key encounters and puzzles, reusing assets and keeping mechanics simple.
